Terrorism Preparedness Advocate Available To Comment on Inadequate State of Homeland Readiness

Michael Wilhelm Warns That London Disaster Points to U.S. Vulnerability to Bio-terror Attack

In the wake of another major terrorist attack, Michael Wilhelm, co-founder and CEO of ImmuneRegen BioSciences is currently available for interview on the terrorist threat of biological, chemical, and radiological warfare, and can explain how our country’s own bureaucratic processes may end up costing countless lives.

As the CEO of a start-up biotech company, Wilhelm has become an advocate for bioterrorism preparedness.  He has spent hundreds of hours working with government officials and other homeland security professionals to raise the level of bioterrorism preparedness in the U.S. and to cut the red tape that is holding back the development of lifesaving treatments and antidotes for threats such as anthrax and radiation.

“The London bombings could have taken a considerably larger number of lives had the terrorists utilized nuclear bombs or known biological agents such as anthrax or avian flu,” warns Wilhelm. “It is saddening to think of the lives affected by this horrific tragedy.  We offer our assistance to globally increase preparedness should a similar incident involving bioterrorism happen in London or elsewhere.  The terrorists' complete disregard for human life is a powerful indicator that a major bioterror attack is an inevitable reality. However, our country is just not ready for that.”

FDA Mandate

Part of Wilhelm’s efforts has included the creation of the Bioterrorism Preparedness Advisory Board. This board is comprised of knowledgeable military and private citizens that possess first hand experience in combat casualty and mass trauma scenarios, including preparation for a bioterrorist attack.  Created in response to the request of the USFDA Division of Counterterrorism, the Advisory Board has been charged with developing an emergency deployment plan for Immuneregen’s proprietary compound, Radilex™. He is also currently working with the office of Senator Joseph Lieberman on the development of BioShield II, a new bio-defense bill geared toward increasing the level of readiness for biological warfare.

Wilhelm is qualified to provide in-depth commentary on the following issues:

  • How the development of preventative measures are being delayed by our own government as a result of agency- and administration-related red tape
  • How smaller bio-tech companies, with efficacious treatments, are dying in the “valley of death” created by this issue
How our emergency stations are not adequately stocked with the appropriate treatments and medications to prevent/treat the ill effects of bioterrorist warfare agents
  • The solutions offered by the Bioshield II legislation to push though the barrier of official procedure and begin manufacturing and stockpiling treatments
